
SAMANTHA SORENSON is a Voertman-Ardoin teaching fellow at the University of North Texas where she is working toward her PhD in Creative Writing. Her work has appeared in Under the Sun, Water~Stone, Sweet Literary, under the gum tree, and on Poets.org. Her poem, “Thoughts While Watching My Mother Make Dinner,” was a winner of the 2024 Academy of American Poets Prize. Samantha is a former managing editor for Fourth Genre and current assistant nonfiction editor for American Literary Review. She received her MFA in creative writing from Brigham Young University. Her current project is a memoir in lyrics, which explores the limitations of self-portraiture and self-censorship. When she is not reading, writing, or teaching, Samantha can be found walking her dog, communing with nature, or holed up inside piecing together a quilt.
